Warning for travellers heading to the NSW Great Divide
People planning to travel to the Great Dividing Range are being warned to be on the lookout for fires.
While the east coast is expecting a rainy season with the risks of floods, there are still fears of bushfires in the west of the state.
NSW RFS Inspector Ben Shepherd told Mark Levy they’re monitoring areas west of the Great Divide.
“The thing that is concerning for us down there is we’ve still got farmers that are doing some harvesting, and over the last few days we’ve seen some crop fires which has meant the loss of crop to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars.
“If you’re travelling over the other side of the ranges you have to be mindful that grass fires are incredibly quick.”
