Wasim Akram touches on tough topics in new memoir
Former cricketing champion Wasim Akram has released a book on his life, penned by Akram award-winning writer Gideon Haigh.
Akram, one of the greatest fast bowlers in the history of cricket, admits he was anxious before the book was released.
“I have been honest, I have been straight forward in that book, what tragedies I have been through, triumphs,” he said on Wide World of Sports.
“The love from my country, and the hate from my country, and people not exactly knowing what happened from my side.”
The Pakistani cricket commentator said sometimes fans back at home can be “vicious” and it’s partly why he wants to impart on younger generations that at the end of the day, it’s just a game.
He said he’s not scared anymore when the book comes out in Pakistan.
