A confronting new ad campaign from Surf Life Saving Queensland depicts the horrific reality of so many families.

The video shows a young girl running excitedly into the beach while her mother sits on the sand to read her book.

And that’s when it happens.

The young girl’s mother then looks up, and instant fear ensues as she can’t find her daughter in the water.

The ad aims to encourage parents to watch their children while they’re in the water, and not to let them swim alone.
