Police may be praising the class of 2022 as the best Schoolies cohort ever but not everyone on the Gold Coast is happy.

The first weekend has wrapped up with only four school-leavers arrested on the first night and just seven charges laid.

But while criminal activity has been at a minimum, people have awoken to find a huge mess strewn across Cavill Avenue.

“I think mainly locals are saying they’re not the best behaved,” Today reporter Mia Glover told Laurel, Gary & Mark.

“They’re saying the amount of rubbish they’re seeing on the streets of Surfers Paradise is just not right.

“Locals are kind of fed up and you can kind of understand that.”
