CCTV footage has captured the moment a young family narrowly misses being hit by a lunatic driver.
The driver refused to stop for police and ran through two red lights at Wollongong’s busiest intersection, nearly hitting a father pushing a pram.
Pedestrians can be seen jumping out of the way as the black car speeds toward them in October last year.
The footage was revealed in Wollongong District Court on Friday, as the reckless driver, Michael Lightowlers, pleaded guilty to charges of dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.
He has been sentenced to at least 13 months behind bars by Magistrate Mark Douglass, who it’s the worst driving he’s seen in more than two decades in the judicial system.
A relative of the man with the pram has contacted Ray off air.
The man’s partner, who was shielded from the car in the video, was eight months pregnant at the time of the incident.
She gave birth to baby Cooper in December.
