‘We NEED an explanation’: National anthem MISSING from parliament anniversary
People have been left confused, wondering why the national anthem was not played at the official 35th Anniversary of the Opening of Australia’s Parliament House in Canberra this morning.
The event took place inside the Great Hall, beginning with a Welcome to Country and ending with a Concert Choir, but there was no opportunity to sing along to Australia’s national anthem.
The Australian Government website states that the national anthem is “used at official and public ceremonies and community events”, but may have been purposefully left out of this anniversary celebration.
“We NEED an explanation,” said Ray Hadley.
