‘We need to move on’: Why Andrew Forrest is heralding a ‘green revolution’ in Queensland
Queensland is set to become the hydrogen energy powerhouse of the world following a landmark announcement.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and energy titan Andrew ‘Twiggy’ Forrest yesterday announced a joint $1 billion project between the Queensland government and Fortescue Future Industries.
It will see one of the world’s largest hydrogen equipment manufacturing hubs built in Queensland.

Dr Forrest told Neil Breen a “relatively small amount of capital” can push Australia in the direction of a “green revolution”.
“We need to move on from old gas, coal as our primary energy source.
“Neil, as you know, the world didn’t end the Stone Age because we ran out of stone – we’ve still got plenty of stones – but we moved on.
“If there’s a new, better way, a completely clean way, let’s do it.”
