Wellcamp guest gives glimpse of what it’s like inside the quarantine facility
A guest at Wellcamp has given Sofie Formica an insight into what it’s like staying at Toowoomba’s controversial quarantine facility.
Lucinda Smith has notched four days at Wellcamp after landing in Queensland from the UK on March 4.
“The key difference with Wellcamp is I’ve got access to fresh air,” she told Sofie Formica. “It feels a lot more sane in many ways.
“It’s like a really spacious, one-bedroom flat that you wouldn’t find in London.”
She said it would be surprising if the facility was being used to its current maximum capacity of 500 people.
“I can see down the row of mini flats … and I can see two other people from my room.
“I did hear earlier today, they were saying there was one more arrival coming in.
“But with the exception of that, I could probably count on two hands how many people I’ve seen leaving and also coming into the facility.”
