‘We’re blowing it open’: Nurses fear the worst as patients left stranded

The Nurses Professional Association Queensland says the government needs to fund more hospital beds to address “widespread ramping”.

There are claims patients are being dumped in hospital corridors, even when a bed isn’t available, to reduce the number of ambulances queuing up outside.

They say hospitals worst impacted are in Metro South, including Logan and Redlands.

The Association’s Graeme Haycroft tells John Stanley the government’s ignoring the issue.

“We’re blowing it open because we want a solution, and the solution is just to have more ambulances.

“The government needs to seriously address the 600-bed shortage on the south side of Brisbane.”
