‘We’re here to help’: Mourners gather at Wynnum Manly for Paul Green
A number of mourners have gathered at the Wynnum Manly Leagues Club following the death of Paul Green.
The 49-year-old league legend was found unresponsive at his Wynnum home yesterday morning.
Wally Lewis told Laurel, Gary & Mark “a lot of people” have gathered at the club’s front door.
“I went up [and said] ‘Gee, you’re a couple of hours early – you’re here to play the pokies?’
“They said ‘No, we’re here to talk about Paul Green and help some other people who would be struggling a little bit with the news’.
“It really is spreading quite quickly.”

Wynnum Manly Seagulls interim CEO Tom Solah told Laurel, Gary & Mark the club is devastated to hear of Green’s passing.
“I only spoke to him last week and yeah, it floored me yesterday,” he said. “It’s shocking news and just hasn’t quite hit home, I don’t think.
“Yesterday was kind of like the air had been sucked out of the room.”
Green was head coach for two years at Wynnum Manly, where he led the club to victory both times.
“It just goes to show how much of an impact he had as a coach and how much an impact this loss is going to have on our community.”
