What Brisbane needs to compete with Australia’s tourism powerhouses
Brisbane’s tourism offerings have been weighed, measured and found wanting as competition for the Sunshine and Gold Coasts.
A blunt assessment by consultants called in by the state government and Brisbane City Council has found more tourism attractions are needed to make the city more enticing to travellers.
The review proposed six new tourism drawcards, including an aquarium, with the potential to snag an added $11 million a day for Brisbane.
Laurel, Gary & Mark pointed out while theme parks and Australia Zoo might be enough to get tourists into the state, the River City is too far to be a viable hub.
Al from Redland Bay said a sky tower and viewing deck in Mt Coot-Tha would make a great addition.
