What censuring Scott Morrison over his secret portfolios would mean
Scott Morrison has become the first prime minister to be censured by the federal parliament.
Labor successfully moved the motion in parliament this morning, arguing he eroded trust in government when he secretly appointed himself to five portfolios during the COVID-19 pandemic.

86 MPs voted in favour of the motion after Liberal MP Bridget Archer crossed the floor.
50 MPs voted against it.

The censure motion allowed MPs to express their disapproval of Mr Morrison but does not have any direct legal consequences.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said Cabinet has agreed to implement six recommendations made in a report into the secret portfolios to prevent similar actions happening again.
“We will introduce legislation later this week to make sure that this can never, ever happen again,” he said.
