Where is the true birthplace of the iconic pavlova?
Over Christmas, thousands of families across the nation would have shared a traditional pavlova for dessert.
It’s claimed that on this day 83 years ago, a Perth chef created the pavlova at the Esplanade Hotel.
But our brothers and sisters in New Zealand think they were the first to create the recipe.
Both nations agree on the name, but who made it first?
Deborah Knight is entering the debate and has enlisted the help of Macquarie Radio’s food expert Chef Daniel to get an answer.
“I’ve done a lot of research on this because I get asked this all the time,” he says.
“Unfortunately, and it breaks my heart even mentioning it… in 2010 the Oxford English dictionary declared it was actually made in New Zealand first.”
