As the Lord Mayor reaches for the sky ahead of the 2032 Games, Jared Cassidy’s priorities lie in the suburbs. 

Adrian Schrinner yesterday shared his bold vision for Brisbane, including residential skyscrapers in South Brisbane and creating a ‘party city’.

But the Labor leader says his focus isn’t in the inner city region.

“This is a generational opportunity, having an Olympics to have a massive investment in the suburbs of Brisbane,” he said on Brisbane Live.

“Whether that’s in suburban infrastructure connecting our city, whether it’s your public transport, active city, parks and gardens and open spaces, and of course, community sporting clubs.

“It’s nice to talk about all the glitzy inner-city stuff but I think a council’s job is to be a council at the end of the day and I think that’s what people want.”
