There are concerns there are huge numbers of white ibis which have set up nests on the side of the M1, towards the Gold Coast.

There are reports there are thousands of the bin chickens in the Yatala area, feeding from the nearby landfill.

There’s also reports of hundreds of carcasses of the birds that have been hit by cars.

Neil Breen said it was a danger for drivers.

“They have to move them,” Neil said.

4BC listener Leonie told Neil there were “loads of them dead on the sides of the highway after being hit, it’s just awful”.
