‘Who will it be?’: Dolphins need a ‘marquee signing’
Peter Psaltis says the NRL’s newest club, the Dolphins, need to sign a star player to “spark a chain reaction” to build the flagship team.
The club have been able to negotiate with players for the past few weeks, but the 4BC Wide World of Sports host said they had failed so far to land the “marquee signing.”
“We have always said it’s going to be every brave, the first marquee signing, but they need that first domino to fall and then it will spark a chain reaction,” he said.
“Who will it be? Of course Reed Mahoney is still available, another Eel, will he be leaving Parramatta?
“Who will be their first signing? Will they land Brandon Smith? It appears as though whoever their first big signing will be, they are going to have to pay overs.
“I’ve got no doubt they will still be able to get a competitive squad together.”
He said he was fascinated how they will build the team in the next 14-15 months.
