There’s hope Queensland’s tourism industry is bouncing back as hotel bookings soar. 

According to data from SiteMinder, bookings are now slightly higher than in 2019.

But Orbit World Travel Michael Chase-Smith told Scott Emerson while the numbers look good now, they’re not likely to stay so high.

“We’ve really got to start getting some of the international tourists back in because they’re the ones that spend a higher dollar-per-person.

“I think the problem we’re going to find is while we’ve got this surge now, and it is higher than 2019, it will flatten.

“We’ve got to make sure we’re not getting into a false sense of security with this.”
