Why a Victorian town has changed its name this month
A small town in the South Gippsland region in Victoria has temporarily changed its name, for a great reason.
Poowong has changed its name to “Pooright” all in the name of Gut Health Month.
The Gut Health dietician Nicole Dynan says the idea is to put Australian’s gut health on the agenda, and talk about signs, symptoms and advice for looking after your gut and overall health.
“That’s part of the reason that we are running Gut Health Month, is really to increase awareness,” she told Sofie Formica.
“Having such a great campaign moving Poowong to Pooright is something hopefully that will grab the national attention, and bring to the forefront of people’s minds the importance of gut health and keeping on top of that for overall health and wellbeing.”
She spoke about the signs to look out for issues with your digestive system including bloating, constipation, reflux and more.
