Why Australians are eating less meat
New research has shown Australians are making a conscious effort to buy and eat less meat.
The research, by consumer intelligence platform Toluna, found there’s a decline in meat consumption.
“So the biggest change there was concerns about health,” retail expert from QUT Professor Gary Mortimer said.
“The biggest concern, 65 per cent of people said it was being health conscious, we actually want to consume less meat each week.
“Behind that was cost … shifting away from meat because the costs of going up and certainly moral issues or animal welfare issues at the end.”
