A financial commentator says Australians should explore their own personal relationship with money, as cost-of-living pressures continue to hit home.

Effie Zahos, editor-at-large at Canstar, has released a revised edition of her book A Real Girl’s Guide to Money which includes a bill buster action plan.

“Moving from say, an average bill price on all your household bills to the cheapest and best value could save you $12,000 in the first year,” she told Sofie Formica on 4BC Afternoons.

The book also looks at how to establish your relationship with money and whether you’re a spender or a saver, and the nuances around how you look at, spend and squirrel away your money.

“I can talk forever .. anyone can tell you strategies … but what is actually harder is understanding why you do what you do with your money and that’s getting to know yourself money wise.”
