Australians are rallying to raise millions for farmers who have battled natural disasters across the nation this year.

Recent rain has flooded more than 40 towns across NSW, Victoria and Tasmania while parts of Queensland and South Australia endure some of the driest months on record.

Rural Aid is today giving everyone a chance to help those in the bush by raising money to fund critical support for farmers in need of anything from water and hay deliveries to counselling.

The charity has enlisted the help of Laurel’s daughter, rising indie pop artist Jem Cassar-Daley for Mates Day, when every dollar donated will be matched by Rural Aid partners.

“I’ve had the opportunity to record Carole King’s absolutely iconic song, You’ve Got a Friend,” Jem told 4BC Breakfast.

“It’s all about coming together and supporting our Aussie farmers, who are in need more than ever.

“I think it’s just a really important day for us all to really consider the hardships they’ve been through in the past few years.”
