The number of concerts with big international and local acts could double at Brisbane’s Lang Park.

The Queensland government has launched a survey to gauge Queenslanders’ views on whether Suncorp Stadium should play host to more concerts in 2023 and 2024.

Neil Breen said the restrictions needed to be lifted.

“We’ve got this massive venue sitting there, right there the CBD and it can only host six concerts a year.”

Neil said “absolutely” there should be more.

“Big events means money, big touring bands means money, honestly why have a stadium?”

Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner has also thrown his support behind the idea.

Chairman and CEO of ASM Global’s Asia Pacific division, Harvey Lister, which includes Suncorp Stadium, told Sofie Formica bands and singers around the world were eager to make up for lost time after the pandemic.

“Up until recently until not too long before COVID major stadiums around the world would budget for maybe one stadium concert a year, maybe two, and that was about it,” he said on 4BC Afternoons.

He said now, global arenas were “chock-a-block” with acts.
