Hold onto your hat today! We haven’t seen the last of gusty conditions yet.

Nearly 7000 residents on the Darling Downs were without power overnight after a strong trough and cold front swept across southern Queensland.

Forecaster Ken Kato told Sofie Formica the weather will continue for a few more days.

“We’ll probably see the wind gusts increase even further a little bit as we head further into this morning,” he said.

“Later this afternoon, tonight, we’ll probably see these winds ease back.

“Tomorrow, the winds shouldn’t be as strong but it’ll probably still remain gusty around elevated terrain and open, exposed areas.”

He said the winds will be followed by a drop in temperature by the end of the week.

“By Thursday, because the winds will have backed right off, … we’ll probably see those early morning digits drop right down.

“Over the next week or couple of weeks, we should see temperatures stay below average for most of that period.”
