Work ‘still ongoing’ to find Magic Round brawlers amid ticketing snag
The fans involved in a wild brawl that unfolded in the Magic Round stands on Friday are yet to be formally identified.
Brisbane’s triumph over Manly was marred by a fight midway through the first half that saw multiple punches thrown and a spectator tumble down rows of seats.
Suncorp Stadium General Manager Alan Graham says investigations are still ongoing to identify the people responsible for the incident, three days on.
“We’re working very hard with the NRL around trying to identify these people,” he told Sofie Formica.
“That work’s still ongoing because their tickets were actually part of a large group.
“We’ll work with the NRL on what action may happen from here.”
Mr Graham said it’s not fair stadium security has come under fire for a slow response, allowing the incident to continue for almost 90 seconds.
“Police were there and we went through the CCTV,” he continued. “They were there in one minute and 26 seconds.
“It may seem like a long time when things are unfolding but that is still a pretty good result and that was, I think, as good as you can expect.”
