Worrying research finds COVID-19 can shrink and damage brain
A new study has found even mild cases of COVID-19 can cause brain damage and shrinkage.
The UK research reveals the virus can affect parts of the brain linked to smell and memory.
Doctor Susannah Tye from the Queensland Brain Institute at UQ told Neil Breen cognition and emotion could also be affected.
“Inflammation in general is ultimately bad for the brain and involved in processes that can increase risks of psychiatric disorders.
“It could be a combination of multiple factors all working together to increase this risk.”
