‘Years and years to build’: Spotlight on Brisbane Games infrastructure projects
Neil Breen has questioned the timeline of the major infrastructure projects planned to ready Brisbane for the 2032 Games.
The Courier Mail reports there’s a major re-think underway over Brisbane’s premier Olympic projects, the Gabba and the Brisbane Arena.
On the Gabba redevelopment, it’s reported there are concerns the new stadium won’t fit unless there’s major construction work undertaken in the streets nearby.
It’s understood Vulture and Stanley Streets could be tunnelled.
“I first reported that last year when the Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner admitted on my show that tunnels might be needed,” Neil said.
“Tunnels for Vulture and Stanley streets? They’d want to start building those tunnels now.
“They will take years and years to build.
He said Brisbane will be a “construction zone” for a long time.
