One of Ireland’s most iconic and historic whiskeys has finally arrived in Australia.

Slane Irish Whiskey carries 300 years of family history, and Laura McCarthy from Slane Castle, where the whiskey is made, joins Chris Smith in the studio.

She tells Chris they use a mix of virgin and vintage casks to mature the whiskey.

“70% of flavour and 100% of the colour comes from the barrels.

“We use virgin American oak casks, we use ex-bourbon casks, and then we also use an ex-sherry cask too.”

Laura also gives Chris a very important lesson is the Irish language.
